Castilla y León Wines Celebrates Successful East Coast Roadshow and Prepares for West Coast Tour in 2024

Following a highly successful East Coast roadshow in New York, Chicago, and Miami, Castilla y León Wines is set to bring its exceptional wine heritage to the West Coast with events scheduled in Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles this November.

The Institute for Business Competitiveness of Castilla y León (ICECYL), in collaboration with Food and Wines from Castilla y León, proudly announced the triumph of their East Coast tour and the upcoming West Coast expansion. The U.S. tour highlights wines from prominent DOs (Designations of Origin) such as Ribera del Duero, Toro, Bierzo, Cigales, Rueda, and Vino Tierra Castilla y León, known for their diverse grape varieties and winemaking traditions that define Castilla y León's unique offerings. With over 80,000 hectares of vineyards and 600 wineries, the region ranks fourth in Spain for grape production, contributing to 6% of the country’s total wine production.

The East Coast roadshow, featuring more than 25 wineries, attracted over 300 industry professionals. Attendees were treated to exclusive tastings, masterclasses, and networking opportunities at events in New York City, Chicago, and Miami. The tour kicked off on October 21st at La Nacional in New York, where Jienna Basaldu hosted a masterclass. The Chicago event on October 23rd at Mercat a la Planxa was led by Todd Behrend, followed by the final stop in Miami at Hotel Arya on October 25th with Allegra Angelo.

The West Coast tour will showcase over 15 wineries, kicking off on November 11th in Seattle at Block 41, followed by a stop at San Francisco Wine School on November 13th, and concluding in Los Angeles at MG Studio on November 15th. The masterclasses will be led by renowned industry experts: Alberto Martinez Interiano in Seattle, David Glancy MS in San Francisco, and Rick Fisher in Los Angeles. Each session will offer an in-depth look at Castilla y León’s unique terroirs and rich winemaking history.

“We are delighted by the success of our East Coast events and look forward to equally engaging the West Coast wine community,” said Alberto Pascual Alfonso, Export Promotion Manager ICECYL. “This roadshow offers us the opportunity to connect with wine professionals across the U.S., showcasing the diversity and quality of Castilla y León wines and the deep-rooted heritage of our region.”

The Castilla y León roadshow provides an invaluable platform for wine professionals to explore the innovative winemaking techniques and traditions that define this renowned Spanish wine region.
