New Leadership at PepsiCo: Nitin Bhandari Appointed Head of Beverages

Nitin Bhandari Takes the Helm as PepsiCo’s Beverages Head in India and South Asia

Nitin Bhandari, a seasoned executive at PepsiCo India, has been appointed to lead the company’s beverages division in India and South Asia. He will succeed George Kovoor, who announced his retirement effective March 31, 2025, after serving in the role for several years.

PepsiCo India, known for its iconic brands like Pepsi, Mountain Dew, and Tropicana, confirmed the leadership transition. A company spokesperson shared with ET, “George Kovoor has decided to retire from PepsiCo to explore new opportunities. Nitin Bhandari will take over as the general manager for beverages in India and South Asia.”

The leadership change comes at a pivotal moment as the soft drinks industry faces growing competition, particularly with the summer season approaching. While PepsiCo’s bottling operations in India are managed by franchisee Varun Beverages Ltd (VBL), rival Coca-Cola is also stepping up its game. In a major development last month, the Jubilant Bhartia Group acquired a 40% stake in Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), Coca-Cola India’s bottling partner, for ₹12,500 crore, signaling intensifying competition in the market.
