Hershey Announces CEO Succession Plan as Michele Buck Prepares for Retirement in 2026
The Hershey Company (NYSE: HSY) announced today that Michele Buck, Chairman of the Board, President, and Chief Executive Officer, has informed the Board of her plans to retire effective June 30, 2026. Until a successor is appointed, Ms. Buck will continue to serve in her current roles. Following the appointment, she will transition to a senior advisor position before officially retiring.
To ensure a smooth transition, the Board has formed a special committee to oversee the search for Hershey's next CEO. The committee, working with a nationally recognized search firm, will evaluate both internal and external candidates.
“It has been the pinnacle of my career to lead Hershey, a truly one-of-a-kind company,” said Buck. “Our team has built one of the most recognizable snacking portfolios in the industry, and I’m immensely proud of our accomplishments. As I approach my 20th year at Hershey, I believe the time is right to activate our succession planning and begin the transition to Hershey’s next leader.”
Victor Crawford, Lead Independent Director of the Board, expressed gratitude for Buck's contributions: “Michele has provided transformational leadership over the past two decades. Her vision has driven Hershey's expansion into broader snacking categories, sustainable international growth, and the development of advanced capabilities to position Hershey as a stronger and more diversified business.”
Hershey reaffirmed its full-year 2024 financial outlook and will share its 2025 outlook alongside its February earnings release.
